What’s Happening: Next week is Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all our veterans. My office hours have changed and are as follows: Mondays and Wednesdays 9am-3pm, Fridays 9am -5pm, Saturdays 10am-4pm.

Fun Holidays this Week:

November 6th: US General Election- Have you voted?

November 7th- Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day- Hmmmmm. Kind of a strange holiday, but I like it.

November 10th- Forget-Me-Not Day- Today is a day to remember friends and family we haven’t seen in a while. Reach out and let them know they’re not forgotten.

Hydration Recipe

Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. Water promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, helps muscles and joints work better and keeps skin supple. Here is this weeks hydration recipe:

Plum Lemon Water

3 plums, sliced

1 lemon, sliced

Add plums and lemon to a pitcher of water. Chill overnight and enjoy.

To Talk or Not to Talk

Many clients wonder if they should talk during their massage. The answer is it’s totally up to you. Here are some things to think about:

  • At the beginning of a massage treatment, it is beneficial to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. This will help put you in a relaxed frame of mind so you can get the most out of the experience.
  • Some people want use their treatment time to meditate and forget about their worries. Some people even fall asleep during a massage, which is a huge compliment. Never feel pressure to talk or chat. This is your time and my job is to make sure you leave feeling great.
  • Some people like to use the time to connect and talking is a way of relaxing for them. If this is you, wonderful. I love getting to know my clients.

Certain types of massage, such as deep tissue massage and sports massage, require more feedback because I’m working on deeper layers of muscle and will want to ensure that the pressure is not uncomfortable. Sometimes clients feel like they will be insulting me if they speak up. However, that is never the case. I want to know if it is too intense.
